Abstract: Matrix functions have become an important tool in Applied Mathematics,
however their computation is particularly challenging for large matrices.
Significant progress has been made in this research field in the last
decade or two. This includes rational Krylov techniques and their
parameter selection, efficient restarting, and error control. This
minisession discusses some of these advances, applications, and
recent new challenges in computing the action of large-scale matrix
functions.
